SAFETY
Throughout its operations, the company's mantra is simply - Zero Harm for Everyone Everywhere.
Where safety is concerned, there are no compromises. It is the bedrock of the business and the number one priority.
ENVIRONMENT PERFORMANCE
To be a great company, growth has to be environmentally as well as economically sustainable.
IPL is working hard on material recycling, waste minimisation, energy conservation and pollution prevention.
In Australia, the world's driest inhabited continent, the most important environmental issues are the efficient use of water, the effective use of fertilisers on farms, energy efficiency and carbon emissions management.
MANUFACTURING
IPL's manufacturing facilities produce a wide range of explosives, fertilisers and industrial chemicals.
As well as owning and operating 20 plants in the US, Canada, Australia, Mexico, Indonesia and Turkey, IPL has joint venture operations in South Africa, Malaysia, China and Australia.
IPL's initiating systems and assembly plants in the US, Mexico and Australia build detonators, boosters and cartridge explosives such as dynamite.
In Australia, IPL's biggest fertiliser plant is at Phosphate Hill, Queensland, where open-cut mining is used to extract phosphate rock. The rock is combined with sulphuric acid from IPL's Mount Isa plant to produce ammonium phosphate fertilisers.
At Gibson Island, natural gas and air are used to produce ammonia to make other fertilisers, including urea.
IPL also produces superphosphate, the most commonly used fertiliser for improving pastures.
IPL is expanding its manufacture of explosives in Australia. The company has committed close to A$1billion to build a major ammonium nitrate plant at Moranbah in Central Queensland.
When completed, the plant, located in the heart of one of the world's largest coal mining provinces, will produce ammonium nitrate for the mining industry.
EXPLOSIVES
The company's Explosives business, trading as Dyno Nobel, provides commercial explosives products and blasting services, primarily in North America and the Asia Pacific region including Australia.
Blasting is an essential step in extracting the minerals required to meet the world's demand for power, infrastructure and consumer goods. Mines, quarries and seismic explorers use Dyno Nobel products to achieve safety goals and improve operational efficiency.
Dyno Nobel blasters are some of the most highly trained in the industry. Explosives products are sold through a network of wholesale distributors as well as retail sites.
FERTILISERS
Incitec Pivot Fertilisers is Australia's largest supplier of fertilisers, dispatching around three million tonnes each year for use in the grain, cotton, pasture, dairy, sugar and horticulture industries.
Bulk and packaged fertiliser products are distributed to farmers through a network of more than 200 business partners and agents.
The company supports farmers in all of eastern Australia, from tropical fruit growers in north Queensland to dairy producers in Tasmania.
TRADING
IPL has consolidated its international trading activities in its subsidiary, Southern Cross International.
As well as managing the company's procurement of products and raw materials, SCI actively markets IPL's own products in a number of offshore markets including India, Pakistan and Latin America.
